Cummins Engine Technology
A new round of emissions regulations are coming in 2007...and Cummins is ready for them. In fact, we're already road-testing vehicles equipped with '07 engines. To learn more about Cummins engine technology for 2007 and beyond, download our Choosing The Right Technology brochure
.
So what do these new engines look like? They are virtually identical in appearance to the ISX and ISM engines we are producing today. They will use our proven Cooled-EGR Subsystem. And they will feature our patented VG Turbo with the sliding-nozzle design.
Like all other diesel engine manufacturers, we will be adding a particulate trap to achieve the new PM levels. But our base engine technology will stay virtually the same. So you can expect the same kind of durable, dependable, responsive performance that customers are getting from today's ISX and ISM engines.
Off-highway equipments, Tier 3 and Stage 3 are the major emissions regulation hurdles that are on the horizon for all our global markets. Cummins is already demonstrating the capability to reach these emissions levels with an "in-cylinder" solution.
Cummins Tier 3 and Stage 3 engines will feature an advanced combustion system that reduces engine-out emissions at the source - inside the combustion chamber. There will be very minimal changes from the current Tier 2 engines in operation today, from the QSB to the QSK19. For a complete look into the future at our off-highway solutions, download the "Choosing The Right Technology" Mobile Off-Highway Emissions Brochure.
As a world leader in the design and manufacture of power generation equipment and technology, Cummins Power Generation is working today to develop fuel cell technology for tomorrow. The solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) power system will provide virtually silent power with significantly lower fuel consumption and exhaust emission than existing generator sets. Additional benefits will include higher reliability and lower maintenance than required by today’s systems. Read More...
